Day 1

Arrival / Negombo

Transfer via: Flight, arranged on your own

Travel time: approximately 20mins

Welcome to Sri Lanka! Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be greeted by your chauffeur guide and then be escorted to your hotel for check-in on time. The rest of the day is yours to relax.

Note: Buddhism is extremely respected in Sri Lanka, any disrespectful words or acts may cause deportation or denial of entry, e.g. Buddha tattoos, kissing/climbing/riding Buddha statue, drinking inside a temple, etc.

Day 2

Negombo/Kithulgala

Transfer via: Private vehicle

Meals: Breakfast

Birding Method– By walking

After breakfast we leave for Kithulgala (8.00am). (Travel time -2.5hrs by Coach) to the next hotel and afternoon is for birding walk in Makandawa Rainforest in Kithulgala.

Kitulgala- crossing the beautiful Kelani River takes us to a high-density rain forest. The village is surrounded which is famous to have a large number of endemic birds.

Day 3

Kithulgala/Sinharaja

Transfer via: Private vehicle

Meals: Breakfast,

Birding Method – By walking

Early morning (6.00am) Birding in the village.and coming back to  the hotel for breakfast.

After breakfast leave for Sinharaja. (Travel time -4.5hrs by Coach) The afternoon is for birding around Sinharaja forest.

Day 4

Sinharaja

Transfer via: Private vehicle

Meals: Breakfast,

Birding Method-By walking

Early Morning (5.30am) with packed breakfast leave for Sinharaja Rainforest by jeep drive (6.00am)

Full day birding in Sinharaja Forest

Flocks for lowland endemics and mixed species, Sinharaja Rain Forest is a UNESCO world heritage site which has the richest bio- diversity in Asia and is home to a large number of endemic flora and fauna species.

Highlights- Green Billed Coucal (E), Red Faced Malkoha (E), Sri Lanka Blue Magpie (E), White Faced Starling (E), Orange billed babbler (E), Ashy-Headed Laughing Thrush (E), White Throated Flowerpecker (E), Sri Lanka Mynah (E), Sri Lanka Spurfowl (E), Serendib Scops Owl (E), Brown Capped babbler (E), Scaly Thrush (E), Spot Winged Thrush (E), Sri Lanka Crested drongo (E)

Day 5

Sinharaja/Udawalwe

Transfer via: Private vehicle

Meals: Breakfast

Birding Method- By Safari Jeep

Optional -Early morning (6.00am) birding around the hotel and coming back for breakfast.

Driving to Uda Walawe after breakfast (8.30 am) Travel time 2.5 hours) Afternoon Jeep safari in Uda walawe national park (2.30 pm)

, situated in the dry zone comprising a diversity of habitats including scrub jungles-

Uda Walawe is the best national park in the country to see herds of wild elephants. Situated in the dry zone, it comprises of grasslands, shrubs and jungles.

Highlights- Sri Lanka Green Pigeon (E), Orange Breasted Green pigeon, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Plum Headed Parakeet, Indian Pitta (M), Sirkeer Malkoha, Changeable Hawk Eagle, Crested Serpent eagle, WhitevBellied Sea Eagle, Grey Headed Fish Eagle.

Day 6

Udawalwe/NuwaraEliya

Transfer via: Private vehicle

Meals: Breakfast

Travel time: Approximately 4.5hrs

Birding Method-By walking

After breakfast proceed to Nuwaraeliya. (Travel time -4.5-5hrs) .This is a picturesque journey packed with beautiful mountains, waterfalls and tea plantations.

Birding in the afternoon at the Victoria Park situated in the centre of Nuwara Eliya.

Highlights- Kashmir Flycatcher, Pied Thrush, Indian Pitta, Indian Blue Robin, Yellow Eared Bulbul, Sri Lanka White Eye, Dull Blue flycatcher.

Day 7

NuwaraEliya/Horton’s Plain National park/Colombo/Exit

Transfer via: Private vehicle

Meals: Breakfast,

Birding Method- Walking

Visiting Horton Plains early morning at 5 am with packed breakfast in a van. (Travel Time 1 hours)

Horton Plains is a forest area with mountains.

Highlights- Sri Lanka Whistling Thrush (E), Sri Lanka Wood Pigeon (E), Sri Lanka White Eye (E), Dull Blue Flycatcher, Sri Lanka Yellow eared Bulbul (E), Sri Lanka Bush Warbler (E), Hill Swallow, Velvet fronted Nuthatch, Grey Headed Canary flycatcher, Kashmir Flycatcher, Mountain Hawk Eagle, Black Eagle, Common Kestrel.

Later proceed to Colombo & exit. (Travel time -6 hrs)
